The Island Kitchen Challenge

Everyone dreams of a bright kitchen with big windows and a view of the Gulf. But salt air and humidity can turn beautiful finishes dull fast. The good news? You don’t have to sacrifice looks for durability. We’ve been building and remodeling coastal kitchens for years, and we know exactly what holds up (and what doesn’t).

Luxurious cream kitchen with black countertops, central island, elegant cabinetry, wood floor, stainless steel stove, and bright window view.

Cabinets That Last

We get a lot of questions about cabinet materials. Here’s the short version:

  • Solid wood frames, painted right, work beautifully if you control humidity.

  • Marine-grade plywood or PVC core cabinets are fantastic for beach houses.

  • MDF is a no-go—it swells the first time humidity jumps.

If your existing boxes are sturdy, we can re-door or reface them to look brand new. That’s budget-friendly and eco-friendly.

Counters That Can Take the Heat (And Humidity)

Quartz is still our top choice for coastal homes—it’s non-porous and easy to maintain. Granite looks great too, but needs regular sealing. Quartzite is gorgeous and tough if you like natural stone.

We’ll help you pick the right look for your space and budget without pushing you into something you don’t need.

Hardware & Hinges: Small Details, Big Impact

In a coastal kitchen, cheap hardware will rust before your next holiday. We only use stainless or solid-brass hinges and pulls, plus soft-close slides so doors don’t slam in the humidity. It’s a tiny upgrade that makes your kitchen feel solid every day.

Venting & Air Flow

Good ventilation is the unsung hero of a lasting kitchen. We size hoods and vents properly, seal ducts, and make sure air moves out—not into the attic. If you cook a lot, we’ll help you pick a hood that matches your style and CFM needs.

Layout Upgrades That Change Your Day-to-Day

Even small shifts—like moving the dishwasher closer to the sink or adding a pull-out pantry—can make a big difference. We start by asking how you cook and entertain so the layout fits your routines. Form follows function, but it should still look amazing.

Realistic Budgets and Timelines

Most Galveston kitchens we remodel land between $25K and $60K depending on scope and finish level. We’ll build a clear estimate upfront so there are no surprises. A standard kitchen takes about 8–10 weeks from demo to final walkthrough.

How We Work With You

We treat every project like a team effort. You review the plan, add ideas, and we tweak until it’s right. We send progress photos and check in weekly so you never wonder what’s happening. That’s how we keep stress low and results high.
